In summer vacation, our family went to Yilan for three days. We had never stayed overnight since the Covid-19 broke out; therefore, I was like a imprisoned bird which eventually regained its freedom and delightfully soared in the sky. I could not wait to start a journey, although I had to get up at 5 p.m. With the sun coming up, I gradually fell into sleep.


In the vast grassland, there were not a herd of water buffalo grazing, but a lot of cow dung leaving. Suddenly, the smell of cow dung reminded me the memories in Qingtiangang that I participated in the mountaineering association for the first time. It was the turning point that I had enthusiasm for mountain climbing. Even though I was exhausted and sweating like a pig during mountain climbing, it was worthwhile to enjoy the beautiful scenery and the fresh air along the way.

In honest, I was not a tourist but a hiker during this three-day vacation. This vacation was a trial for the homebody. The experience in Taoyuan Valley trail impressed me the most not only because of unimaginably long distance but also because of indescribably beautiful landscape. Words failed me when I was overlooking the magnificent spectacle from the grassy slope. In contrast to enormous waves constantly crashing against precipitous cliffs, Turtle Island seemed to be a wise man who had no desperate desire to achieve his ambitions. With the breeze was stroking my face, the fatigue suffering from hiking relieved; nonetheless, the smell of cow dung abruptly brought me back down to earth.

When it came to Yilan, scallion pancakes were one of the most typical food. After accomplishing twelve-kilometer trail, I was spent and starving. The salty and peppery smell of scallion pancakes instantly grab my attention. However, I gave up the idea to purchase the scallion pancakes because huge crowds of people were lining up to buy them. Fortunately, one of our group member was willing to buy scallion pancakes for our family. Once I take a bit the scallion pancake, it was very crispy but a little bit greasy. Compared with machine-made crust, its crust was fluffy and chewy-soft because humen knead the dough. After I tuck in the scallion pancake, the smell of scallion left such a pleasant aftertaste in my mouth. This scallion pancakes were divine! I could not find any other appetizing scallion pancakes in Taichung any more. During this three-day vacation, my mind was completely healed by the breathtaking nature and the mouth-watering food.
